My best memories from the University of Helsinki

Many of my memories from the University of Helsinki are anchored in spaces: the incredibly beautiful foyer of the old wing of the Main Building, the rooms of the Department of Finnish Literature on Liisankatu, the hall of the National Library.

My closest fellow students were Jyrki Kalliokoski and Minna Jokinen. Jyrki is now a Professor of Finnish, Ms Jokinen is in advertising. I got to know the author Kari Hotakainen early on in my studies, and that friendship has lasted all these decades.
