Contacts with academia are still strong

Touko Siltala is regularly in contact with his Alma Mater. Several of the authors of Siltala Publishing are teachers or researchers in history disciplines at the University of Helsinki, and the publishing house works with departments and disciplines at the Faculty of Arts when arranging author visits and launch parties for books.

– A little while ago we had a French literature scholar visiting, so we held a seminar at the University that we planned with the Professor of French Philology. Other disciplines have also been happy to work with us on similar author visits. Also, launch parties for the works of Matti Klinge naturally belong at the University.

Touko Siltala has even contributed his expertise faculty projects.

– I’m happy to help current and future students if my skills and contacts are of any use.”

The Faculty of Arts ran their Constructive Partnership project in 2010-2011. With the help of alumni working in various fields, the project explored how teaching in the Faculty could be improved to better answer the needs of the working life. Other issues to which the project sought fresh answers were the Faculty’s community relations and the degree requirements reform. Mr Siltala was one five alumni in the Constructive Partnership project team. He also sat on the Community Relations Committee of the Faculty of Arts in 2012.
