375 years of science and learning for all

Helsinki University Museum provides knowledge of the history of the University and science and learning through the staging of exhibitions and events. On the University’s 375th anniversary, March 26, 2015, the museum opened a permanent exhibition in the University Main Building: The Power of Thought – The Story of the University of Helsinki 1640–2015.

The exhibition tells the story of both the University of Helsinki and its students and scholars. The exhibition is designed to provide a strengthened sense of identity. The main target groups are the university community, particularly freshers, international researchers and students and the University’s strategic partners.

The Helsinki Museum will next continue the development of its experiential and interactive exhibition activity in Think Corner 2017 and on the University campuses. In addition, the museum provides a comprehensive online exhibition offering a historical take on university life, student nation pastimes, graduation ceremonies and tales about the dental clinic and women at the University.
