My best memory from the University of Helsinki

I was an active member of both the Hämäläis-osakunta student nation and SUB, the organisation for English students. I edited the newsletters and was a member in both Boards. SUB threw great parties. Usually the SUB Board members put on a send-up of a Shakespeare play. In the picture, I am the tragic Ophelia in Hamlet - who, in the end, rose from death and did a hilipatipippan dance with the King on rhythm.

Not the traditional Hamlet at SUB party in October 1984. Ophelia, revived from death, does a manic dance as the King sings the tune. (Suurmunne’s personal album)

The SUB Christmas party in 1984 when we did our own 15-minute adaptation of King Lear. I was the tragic Cordelia.

This bunch of people spent hours and hours in the Porthania cafeteria - at the round tables by the window.
