“It’s all going to work out just fine”

In the very near future, Juha Töyrylä will graduate with a master’s in comparative literature. His post as Secretary General of SYL (The National Union of University Students in Finland) is a fixed term one, after which he plans to focus on his studies again.

– I have been working for the student union, so I haven't had the time to study at the same pace as my classmates. However, although this may sound like a cliché, I can honestly say that I wouldn't trade a single day of it.

Töyrylä hopes to find a job where he can make a difference, either in business or some organisation. He does not want to slog away at something by himself in the future, but is looking to work somewhere where he can interact with people and go on creating new networks. Töyrylä appreciates the fact that there’s relatively sense of hierarchy in Finnish administrative life.

– Basically anyone who has something to say can get in touch with the people who call the shots. You can make a difference by interacting with people. I think it's strange that working alone is often seen as some kind of an ideal. I believe that swapping ideas develops your own way of thinking, sets up the possibility for new ideas, and paves the way for getting things done.

And it looks like Juha Töyrylä's motto “It’s all going to work out just fine” is coming good.
