My best memory from the University of Helsinki

Maybe not the best memory, but a strange story comes to mind.

I hadn’t yet joined CMX, but Yrjänä and I had a surprise duo gig in October, 1990. CMX had been asked to perform at the Stupido club at Botta in Helsinki, but the two other members of the band, Kimmo Suomalainen and Pekka Kanniainen, were working in southern Sweden at the time and couldn’t make it to the gig. Yrjänä suggested that the two of us could do it with a drum machine, and I was crazy enough to say yes. The promotional picture was taken in the University main building in the lobby of the Senate square side, next to the statues. It was probably the first time that I’ve ever been to that end of the main building, and through that gig I made my way to become a member of CMX.
