My dreams

My two daughters are the fourth generation of women in our family to graduate from the University of Helsinki. Their ancestors Ada Mäkinen (née Makarow) and Anna Schwanck (née Tawaststjerna) graduated from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Medicine. My dream is that more women will have access to education, including higher education institutions, and that they will be free to use their talents in their working lives. Women’s training and participation in professional and social life is largely determined by the future problems in the world. Therefore activities in organisations such as UN Women and integration programmes for women moving to Finland are very important ways to change things.
