Referee, presenter and producer

Baba Lybeck has been the presenter on the Finnish Broadcasting Company’s version of Have I Got News For You since 2010. Lybeck presides over the show as referee, with team captains Jari Tervo and Stan Saanila keeping her company. Each week the show is joined by two celebrities, typically from the world of music or politics.

Lybeck works on the show two or three days a week as a freelance. The half-hour show which goes out on Yle on Saturday evening is just the tip of the iceberg, compared to the amount of work that Lybeck and her colleagues put in for each episode. Lybeck prepares the broadcast together with her producer, scriptwriter and team of researchers. The group follows the week’s news and comes up with a way the chosen themes might be tackled.

In addition, Baba Lybeck presents various events and writes. In the summer Lybeck will start producing her own discussion programme Helil kyläs, presented by the dialect poet Heli Laaksonen.
