San Francisco and temporary work

In his future career, Antti Pikkanen would like to continue doing fun things.

‘I hope that I don’t know all the things that come my way. But I do know what I don’t want. I don’t want to suddenly find myself being in the same job for fifteen years and doing the same work. But that is completely dependent on whether someone has decided to hire me.’

He is interested in working abroad and San Francisco is his favourite city.

‘I’m not sure if it’s worth it to ever move there. Because like everywhere else, daily life can become boring and stressful. This happened when I moved from Ypäjä to Helsinki when I was 16.’

Antti Pikkanen gets totally excited about things and wants to leave before he gets bored.

‘It is wonderful that I have a job which only lasts two years. If this was a permanent position, it would be totally different.’

He is not scared of the future. He can always work as a freelancer since he has the experience and contacts.

In his work as the editor-in-chief of the Ylioppilaslehti student newspaper, Pikkanen also wants to help novice journalists.

‘I hope that through this new writers can get experience and make a name for themselves so that they can start their careers.’
