My Dreams

My dream university would be one where the teacher-student ratio would be much better, i.e. more teachers per student, than the University of Helsinki has now. This I see as absolutely the key factor in raising the standard of teaching, research skills, communication skills, and intellectual activity in general.

I have also dreamed of a Rector whose first public announcement would be as follows: “I am pleased to say that for the next four years we are planning NO reforms or administrative changes of any kind. I trust this will allow staff and students to focus on their work in peace.”
